Artist's Comments

This is my first ever re-release of something out of scraps.

At the sugestion of *SilverBee
I took this photo and added some dodge and burn to it in certain places. Ok I admit I didn't understand what that meant before, having never taken a traditional photography class. I now know that's a darkroom technique, and that it is ok to manip in that way.

I cropped very slightly, and adjusted the horizon. I thought about omitting it, but something about the blues in it, I still like.

Also, thanks to my co-worker, who not only taught me the basics of the Gimp, which I use (its like photoshop, but open source) he also showed me the dodge and burn techniques.

Also I hope this comes close to what you had in mind. =)

Thanks

I have some other ideas now too, from some stuff I haven't even put up in scraps. So.. More to come, and spring is surely on the way

Thanks so much for the :+fav: I'm glad you like it. Part of me wishes i could put the sounds on here too, this made the most soothing sound when the water rippled around this geyser.

 =)

First attempt! Yay, AK! :w00t:

It's very close to what I had in mind! Now, you just need to learn how to put borders/frames on these lovely babies and you'll see a huge difference in the presentation! To me, borders/frames are what seperates snapshots from art photography, at least on dA. Unless you are browsing [link] with an eye to find untapped talent, a lot of people just pass over the pictures without a good presentation. Snobbish, I know, but sometimes that's how dA rolls. While you are thinking about borders/frames... think far ahead and try to plan sizing with those. You might get requests, as you become popular, to sell your photographs through dA. In which case, you should research a bit here: [link] Or more specifaically [link] Gah! I'm talking too much! I just get excited over great art. :excited:

Trust me, you're going to have people flocking to see your work in no time at all! :glomp: -SilB

Ok yes, I am working here to get better, that is the goal. I have seen a lot of frames and etc done on photos, in very tacky ways. Also a lot of really tasteful ones. I'm gonna keep my eye on the tasteful ones.

Thanks so much. I know It is quality over quanity. :boggie: :thanks:
:iconsilverbee:
Take your time! I'm just giving you the heads-up because I know you have "it". :D
